VOTE!

So yesterday I just recieved my ballott in the mail along with a book of information on all canidates that are running for public offices. I remember when I turned 18 that my Dad made it his responsibility to teach me the importance of voting. He said the most important thing you can do as a United States citizen is to vote & not just fill in a bubble, but fill it in with education behind you - KNOW WHO YOU ARE VOTING FOR!
Now, I do not support a specific side, I think there is good everywhere, but I encourage all of you to vote & vote with a full knowledge of who you are actually voting for. This year seems really hard to pick who should move into the white house, but it is SOOOOOOO important that we make our voices heard.
Something that I always do is ignore the campaign promises and look at their past track record. Where both Presidential canidates have served on the United States senate I would look at their work there. What bills did they support, write, how did they vote, what did they push through, what did they deny? It will open your eyes to see what they say & how they really feel about it.
I have added the links of both Barack Obama's & John McCain's senate pages so you can see what they supported and what they didn't. Again, I am not endorsing ANYONE - I am just endorsing how IMPORTANT it is to VOTE!!!

Aj & Lindsey's Wedding

Powered by GoodWidgets.com
So Saturday Ryan's cousin, AJ got sealed to his awesome gal Lindsey! We are so excited to have her be a part of the family; she fits right in! The festivities started yesterday as we helped transform the outside courtyard of their stake center into their gorgeous reception & ring ceremony site. Is it just me or the more you work on other peoples weddings the more you wish you could change or add to your own? Then we went to attend the Portland temple to see Lindsey recieve her endowments. It was very fulfilling spiritually and physically (we had a great rehersal dinner that night after the temple session - pass the breadsticks please!). This morning was the sealing and then later this afternoon they had a ring ceremony and reception to follow. The ring ceremony was very nice. Cameron (Aj's brother) sang a duet "Forever & for Always" with a bandmate of his. While they were singing I couldn't help, but notice one of the flower girls who felt it was time to pick up all the petals that she had dropped - so cute! After the musical number AJ & Lindsey took some time to express their love to one another and exchange rings. Right after that the music started (a cool blend of Frank Sinatra & Micheal Buble) and the food came out! After a few hours of schmoozing and eating (hello chocolate dipped strawberries!) the newly weds left in a cloud of bubbles to their decorated car and drove off while fireworks (props to Cam) went off. Everything was absolutley beautiful! It was great to be a part of it and support Aj & Lindsey.

Exploring Burns

So since we have been living in Burns for 3 years now......& I have no idea why this is all underlined. We decided to see the two "Big Sites" that Burns supposedly has to offer. The Steens Mountains are really quite amazing. When we were drivng to the Steens I really didn't see why they called it a mountain; it looked so small! But we started going higher and higher and before long we were looking down on some really beautiful land. Granted the Steens have NOTHING on the Rockies, but it was still worth seeing. The next stop was the Pete French Roundbarn which was really kind of funny. They have commericals on the radio that state "It's a unique shopping experience, with clean public restrooms" and "your guests will be so impressed with your knowledge of Harney County they will want to come again and again." Well, the shopping was unique I don't know many places that sell so many different versions of Monopoly like: Catopoly, Dogopoly, Horseopoly & Rodeopoly. The public bathrooms were very clean & as for our knowledge of Harney County: "Peter French came to Harney County and built a round barn." Impressed?
While we were up in the Steens there were multiple signs posting to look for big horned sheep that were all over that area. It wasn't until we were heading home & on the other side of the mountain that we saw some. So the last picture on the slide is not a two headed dog, which they actually looked like when we drove up to them, but two big horned sheep.

It's A.........Niece!!

Katrina Lynn Jackson-Caldiero was born on 8-8-08 at 8:15am weighing 8 lbs 4 oz in labor and delievery room #8 at Cottonwood Hospital. Both Mommy (Jeanette, my sister) and Katrina are doing really well. In case you were wondering, Jeanette didn't plan on this date - at all! Katrina was actually two days late, being due on the 6th. So, as you can imagine, Jeanette didn't even care about the date once labor started - she was just happy that Katrina was actually here!!Jeanette & Katrina are at home now and so far Katrina's favorite things to do are: sleep, eat, be held & loves being bundled up in a blanket. She has a carpet of black hair on her head (which explains the indegestion Jeanette would always have) it's soft, wavy, about an inch long & aunt Michelle loves touching it. These pictures don't show it, but she has looong fingers and long toes. Tiffany, older sister, so far seems fine, but we're pretty sure that this week she will learn that this little baby is here to stay and not visiting! Ryan & I are excited to add one more to the clan (see proud picture with all of our nieces & nephews on my side). As Katrina's favorite Aunt, I gave her her first cheek pinches!!
