So yesterday I just recieved my ballott in the mail along with a book of information on all canidates that are running for public offices. I remember when I turned 18 that my Dad made it his responsibility to teach me the importance of voting. He said the most important thing you can do as a United States citizen is to vote & not just fill in a bubble, but fill it in with education behind you - KNOW WHO YOU ARE VOTING FOR!
Now, I do not support a specific side, I think there is good everywhere, but I encourage all of you to vote & vote with a full knowledge of who you are actually voting for. This year seems really hard to pick who should move into the white house, but it is SOOOOOOO important that we make our voices heard.
Something that I always do is ignore the campaign promises and look at their past track record. Where both Presidential canidates have served on the United States senate I would look at their work there. What bills did they support, write, how did they vote, what did they push through, what did they deny? It will open your eyes to see what they say & how they really feel about it.
I have added the links of both Barack Obama's & John McCain's senate pages so you can see what they supported and what they didn't. Again, I am not endorsing ANYONE - I am just endorsing how IMPORTANT it is to VOTE!!!

amen sister! This is the first year that I've really studied the canidates. i feel like I will be able to vote with as much knowledge as possible this year and I second your plea to everyone to VOTE but do so knowledgably (is that a word? who knows)
I totally agree! We are big followers of politics in our family. (We have Super Tuesday parties and everything). It is SO important to look at what the candidate has done rather than the promises. They will promise the world to get elected. It's been that way ever since George Washington! I know who I'm voting for and I'm sticking to my decision. I'm glad to know there are other "young" people that know how important it is as well.

Yeah! I'm so glad you posted those sites. I'm sure I could have just found them on my own and should have by now but now I can finally read and decide who to vote for. I guess I should do it soon seeing how election day is only one week away!
